Test mode, everywhere

Every HandyPay surface now has a full sandbox backed by a dedicated test account that is provisioned for you automatically. Flip the switch in the portal header or the app's account menu and practice the entire business with the test card 4242 4242 4242 4242 (any future expiry, any CVC): no real money moves, no email ever reaches a customer, your live data stays untouched, and test money never mixes into real totals.

  • The whole portal runs against your test account: create payment links and QR codes (success redirects included), launch subscription plans and open their detail pages with live subscriber lists, take test payments, refund them instantly from the transaction details, and cancel test subscriptions with the same run-out-the-period behavior as live ones.
  • Payouts, customers, exports, and reports are sandboxed too: the payouts page shows your test account's real balance and simulated payouts, the customers page builds itself from test checkout emails, and every CSV export respects the mode you are in.
  • The app shares the same sandbox: an orange strip on every money screen, a switch in your account menu, payment links and donation links from the keypad minted against your test account, and your activity feed showing sandbox payments. A test link created on your phone appears in the portal seconds later.
  • New merchants start in test mode until Stripe onboarding completes, because before payouts are set up there is nothing live to charge. Finish onboarding and everything flips to live with a clear notice; a mode you choose by hand always stays chosen, and test mode remains one tap away forever.
  • Paid single-use test links show as paid and used test QR codes as used, instead of pretending to still be active.
  • Anti-fraud marking throughout: sandbox payments carry a TEST badge beside the amount on transaction and payout details on web and in the app, so a cropped screenshot of test money can never pass as proof of a real payment.
  • Sandbox activity arrives as clearly labeled notifications: a test payment, a new test subscriber, or a test subscription ending each announce themselves in the portal panel and by push, always marked as test.

Cancellation notices, dismissals, and app polish

A batch of quality-of-life upgrades across the portal and the app, several of them straight from merchant feedback this week.

  • When a customer cancels a subscription through their billing portal, you now hear about it immediately: a notification in the portal panel and a push the moment the cancellation is scheduled, with the date it runs until, and another when it takes effect at the end of the billing period. Customers keep receiving their own confirmation emails at every step.
  • Dismiss transactions right from the overview's recent activity with a new hover control, matching the transactions page. Dismissals now stay in sync everywhere and survive reloads, in live and test mode alike, and a dismissed view lets you restore anything.
  • The app's home carousel snaps card to card with page dots that stretch and brighten as you swipe, and a Complete-your-setup card leads it until onboarding is done. The try-test-mode card can be dismissed and found again in Preferences.
  • Avatars are rounded squares matching the home header, and they finally show your Google or Apple profile photo; uploaded photos also survive account switches now.
  • Biometric unlock has a real switch in your account menu (it previously could not be changed after onboarding), and every toggle in the app is now the native platform control.
  • Onboarding answers the question that made people quit, first: no Stripe account needed, ever. Stripe is available in your country through HandyPay, and identity verification is securely processed by Stripe.

Clear pending tips and donations

Select pending items in Tips & Donations and clear them in one confirmed action. Clearing also disables each item's payment link, so a checkout page a customer still has open stops accepting payment. Completed payments are never affected.

Safer bank details, and a Stripe-hosted fallback

Bank account numbers are now checked the moment they are entered: digits only, the right length for your country, IBAN checksums verified, and a clear warning if a branch or transit code was pasted into the account number, a mistake that used to surface only as failed payouts weeks later. If entry ever goes wrong anyway, a new option in bank settings removes the saved details and reopens them in Stripe's own secure per-country form, with payouts resuming as soon as it is finished.

HandyPay 3.0.2 on the App Store

Version 3.0.2 of the HandyPay app is now available for iPhone. The update is a smaller download, keeps text rendering reliably on devices that are low on storage, smooths out the swipe to dismiss a transaction, and refreshes the App Store listing to cover all 28 countries where HandyPay is available.

In-app notifications and a smoother home screen

The HandyPay app now has a notifications tray on the home screen: recent payments and payouts under For you, product updates from this changelog under What's new, and an unread badge so nothing gets missed. The same update adds a live amount readout inside the keypad, a clearer currency switcher, and an upgrade page that shows what you would have saved on fees with Pro pricing.

Fundraisers with stories, goals, and supporter updates

Merchants can now run full fundraising campaigns: a public page with a cover image, story, and goal progress, plus supporter messages, organizer updates, and the same hosted card checkout donation links use. Donors stay anonymous unless they choose to share their name, and organizers manage everything from Tips & Donations in the portal.

Bank trace IDs on every payout

Each payout now shows its bank trace ID on the payout detail page and in the payout-paid email, so a merchant on the phone with their bank can quote the exact reference instead of describing amounts and dates.

Six new early-access markets

HandyPay onboarding now accepts merchants in six additional countries through the early-access program, with eligibility and payout details confirmed during account review. The mobile app's country picker lists every supported market, including these.

Hosted donation pages with donor-covered fees

Donation links now open a HandyPay-hosted giving page where supporters choose their own amount. Organizers decide who covers processing fees, so a donor-covered link delivers the full chosen gift, and can set a custom thank-you message supporters see after giving. Links are created from the app or the portal dashboard.

Clearer account activity across sign-ins

Routine background events no longer create vague account activity notifications, and repeated webhook deliveries no longer duplicate the same alert. Mobile transaction history also resets cleanly when a merchant signs out or switches accounts.

A complete, safer API contract for integrations

Developers can now download an OpenAPI 3.1 contract covering every public endpoint, including embedded payments, refunds, disputes, and payout account details. Webhook guidance now uses raw-body, timing-safe signature checks and explains independent endpoint secrets, event deduplication, and reliable payment reconciliation. Existing API keys and request paths are unchanged.

Returning accounts open the right merchant profile

Linked Google, Apple, and password identities now return to one authoritative merchant account without restarting setup. Existing onboarding, payment history, API keys, webhooks, and payout settings remain intact, while a new database guard prevents active duplicate accounts from being created again.

More reliable payment confirmation for API integrations

API and WHMCS integrations can now retrieve completed checkout sessions consistently, receive additional success and failure events for delayed payment methods, and rely on signed merchant webhook deliveries that retry after temporary endpoint failures. Existing API keys and integrations continue to work.

Mobile sign-in returns to the right place

HandyPay mobile now confirms sign-in, verification, and account setup status with the server before choosing the next screen. This reduces stale sessions, repeated setup screens, and sign-in loops across email, Google, and Apple.

A separate workspace for test payments

Test API keys now use a dedicated test account with separate products, customers, payments, subscriptions, and webhook endpoints. The merchant portal includes a Test Mode workspace so test activity never appears beside live business activity.

More payment options at checkout

E-commerce and WHMCS checkouts can now show additional payment methods when they are eligible for the merchant, currency, and customer. Card checkout remains available as a safe fallback for account and currency combinations that do not support dynamic methods.

Settling funds stay visible

Successful payments now remain visible in Payouts while they settle. Merchants can distinguish funds available to pay out from pending settlement and, when available, see the date each pending amount is expected to become available on web and mobile.

Smoother sign-in and mobile forms

Password recovery and login verification now work more reliably, verification codes can be pasted as a complete code, and language switching works on public sign-in pages. Mobile web inputs no longer trigger unwanted focus zoom, while normal pinch-to-zoom remains available.

Completed payments appear sooner

The merchant portal and mobile app now refresh transaction activity when a payment update arrives and when merchants return to the app or revisit key screens. Dashboard totals and recent activity are less likely to show stale pending states.
